Scotland Can Make It!

Back to Projects.

Initiated by Creative Scotland and produced by Panel, Scotland Can Make It! is an exciting project to commission a series of six unique souvenirs inspired by London 2012 and Glasgow 2014.

Against the backdrop of these two major sporting events, Scotland Can Make It! presents a series of souvenirs, designed and manufactured entirely in Scotland, that express a strong message about Scotland’s rich, dynamic and imaginative cultural landscape.

The Scotland-wide project has created manufacturing partnerships in Lochinver, Elgin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ayr, Paisley and Uddingston. The outcomes of these partnerships will provide the focus of an exhibition and public programme curated and produced by Panel in Autumn 2012.

Scotland Can Make It! features souvenir designs by :

Atelier EB (Beca Lipscombe, Lucy McKenzie and Marc Camille Chaimowicz) with Begg Scotland and McRostie of Glasgow

Angharad McLaren and Emlyn Firth with Johnstons of Elgin

Katy West with Highland Stoneware and Rogano

Marianne Anderson and Neil McGuire with Carlton Casting

Claire Duffy with Tunnocks

FOUND (Ziggy Campbell, Simon Kirby and Tommy Perman) with Chemikal Underground

The souvenir prototypes were presented within an exhibition at the Peoples Palace in Glasgow from 7 September 2012 – 13 January 2013. Accompanying the exhibition a film by Reset Films documented the project, its key processes and relationships.

Scotland Can Make It! is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland. The  exhibition is presented in partnership with Glasgow Life and Glasgow Museums.

The souvenirs will be available to buy in 2014. For more information about the project please visit:
