UNDERFOOT
About
UNDERFOOT is a commission and exhibition by Elizabeth Price. It takes as its point of departure the archives of Glasgow-based carpet manufacturers, James Templeton and Company Ltd. and Stoddard International plc, now held in the University of Glasgow’s Archives and Special Collections.
New work connects Price's research to the carpets that furnish the Mitchell Library on Glasgow’s North Street, with an intention to draw a relationship between the architecture and civic agendas of the Mitchell and The Hunterian Art Gallery, investigating ideas of social space.

For the exhibition, Price created two new commissions, a two-channel moving image work and a hand-tufted rug, made with Dovecot Tapestry Studio, both of which are now held within the Hunterian permanent collection.
